Welcome to the Relaunch of The Din!

I am happy that the comic is finally up and running again! I think I didn't realize how long the process would be to reformat and restructure a story like this! But I am happy I did it and super proud about how much better the comic is now. Can't wait to show you everything and draw all the future chapters!

So, this is the plan. I have changed a lot in the Prologue writing wise and even added new pages. I need you all to re-read it in order to get a fresh start on the comic before you read the completely new Chapter 1!

This is why I won't post the prologue all at once. Right now the comic will be updated twice a week. Fortunately, the prologue isn't very long, so it won't take a lot of time, I assure you. Also! I will post extra stuff with each page explaining what's new and my thoughts around it. :) Hope you will enjoy the blast to the past as much as I did when I wrote it and dug through old files!

Hope you like the new website! The comic pages are bigger in resolution now and the design looks much nicer! Big thank you to Jenny Hannula (Artist of Shit Spider!) for helping me out making this WP theme! <3

I want to thank everyone for being so extremely patient with me on this project! The Din is like a baby to me and this is why I had to pause the online posting for a while when I realized it needed a thorough overhaul. I'll do my best to prevent future down times! <3 Here's to an exciting 2014!

I promised I'd update you on when I will relaunch the comic. :) Right now I am aiming for 1:st of March. Might seem like a long time to you but considering what I have left to wrap up, it's not really long! But I am doing my best to manage on time! :)

Oh, here's also a new WIP. :)
Will update soon with more news, but expect me to replace this homepage with either the new web site or a temp relaunch picture really soon!

Like last year, I decided to draw Tova for my annual holiday card. :)


I'm finally having some time off work during the holidays, so I'm doing my best catching up on the comic! Last weeks were crazy... I think I spent an avarage of 12 h at work every day. Add 2 hours of daily commute to that and my days were pretty much only work and sleep. :/ I have an awesome, creative job - but even so, I have my limits. January will hopefully be better!

Will give you a better update on the relaunch date soon. :) Hopefully some time around new years.

A transition panel from one of the new extra prologue pages that I am drawing for the relaunch. :) It's supposed to go well together with this page and I drew that one back in 2010. I think it works fine, but might need some refining if I decide to color the comic one day!

 

Sorry about the lack of WIP updates but I barely have any more WIP to post! So much proof reading and editing work right now, so it's not really material worth showing.

Here's the final colors for the book cover, at least. The whole thing with Temp-text. :) Not sure where to put the logo and all the text yet, but this is the original idea.

I'm really close on being able to relaunch now. It's just some proofs and extra work on the Prologue and I'm about ready to post from the Prologue and up to Chapter 2. Oh, and also prepping the new site. How about that? :)

Unfortunately I have been super busy at work ever since I started working again. But the project I currently work on is super exciting and I can't wait to show you. One of my "life goals" is to be part of such a production, so it feels great to have that under the belt. :)

I really enjoyed working on the cover once the chapter was finished. Usually I do it the other way around (first the cover, then the pages). Gave me more time to reflect and think about what I wanted to include in the cover. I think I will do this when I work on Chapter 4! (Hopefully reaaallly soon. First: reformat all old pages...)

Can't wait to post this in full scale!

 

This is a book cover layout test. :) I had the whole cover sketched out and cleaned up but I wanted to test the overall feel by adding flats. Looks nice, no?

Preview of the cover for Chapter 1 - how it looked before I inked it. You have no idea how much time I spent on just getting Lorentz hands right in the inking. The whole version of the cover will be up once I relaunch. But maybe I will put it here in the WIP posts first - a small version. :)
