There is something really disturbing about powerful men talking about brutal executions over a cup of tea and loads of pastries. Which is actually why I decided on this setting for this dialogue - I think contrasts are effectful! And I also wanted to actually show that these two love pastries... not only tell (which I did in Chapter 1).
A friend of mine back at the Animation Workshop-days told me that after living in Scandinavia for some time, she observed how she thought there was something evil about blue, cold eyes. Like you could see right through the soul, yet have no idea about the person's feelings or intentions - only get a sharp, cold glance back. I have to admit it was the first time I have heard that observation and ever since then, when I look myself in the mirror, I see those sharp, evil eyes looking back at me that she described. XD
No no, my eyes are not the inspiration of John's eyes. But drawing this made me think of my friend and I tried really hard to capture the feeling she described to me. :)
Oh, an other thing: I wrote a blog post on NYCC a few days ago. Check it out!
Anyway, see you next week and don't forget to vote on topwebcomics.com if you got a moment to spare! <3
